Did you think I stopped sewing on Sunday night?
Nawww...I just haven't been able to move my pictures from my camera to my computer until now.
I checked another quilt top off my WIP list on Monday, Modern Quilt Relish's TV Dinner. I'm positively swooning over the outer border fabric, those leaves are just amazing!
Here is the binding all set to go.
I can't tell you how simple and fun this was to piece together. Give yourself a good day and you too can have your own TV dinner ready for quilting. I was inspired when I visited Badlands Quilts blog last summer. I purchased the pattern and materials from Twin Cities Quilting. They were great to deal with and I was quite pleased with my purchases.
Oh and great news....Spring is definitely coming. The snow is melting and it is rubber boot weather!
Have a great week everyone,
Vivian

Bits and Pieces Sunday Edition
Time for a break, Amazing Race is about the start!
I made some great progress today. I got entirely caught up on my Border Creek Station Mystery Quilt. Installment #6 will be handed out next Saturday and I was in serious need of catching up as I had only completed Installment #s 1 and 2. Yep, I was behind.
But look! I'm ready for next weekend!
I know it doesn't look like much but the above is each a little section, with multiple pieces just the same in various baggies. Based on what I have I don't yet have an idea what the finished quilt is going to look like, but you know what? I'm all caught up!!! Wahoo!!
I can't wait though to see how this quilt top turns out...I still have material not cut out so it's got to be used for something!!
Later tonight, when the fire is burning and darkness has set in, I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine and sit in the comfy chaise lounge and stitch. I will be working on ornament #2 of the Little House Needlework 2012 ornaments.
Check out how luscious these threads are, I can't wait to use them.
Not to mention the beautiful gingham linen. It's absolutely gorgeous.
Have a wonderful evening,
Vivian

Bits and Pieces Update!
The days are getting warmer!!!! Every morning I wake up thinking we'll be above freezing...on those days about a couple of weeks ago when we woke up to -25C I was devastated. But look, we're now getting close to zero!!!
Yesterday (Friday) was absolutely a selfish day for me. As a mom I rarely have those days.
Even though Lisa is with me pet-sitting she's pretty independent, she loves being in charge of the woodstove, she's enjoying our friend's satellite tv (Retro Cartoons? wow, I'm even loving watching the Smurfs again), and she is pretty much Tip's favourite person (he loves when she pet-sits). The other animals love her too but not as much as Tip, he's not even letting her sleep in, he's trying to drag her out of bed to play at 6 a.m.!!!!
Anyway, back to my selfish day LOL.
While Lisa hung out, I was a whirling dynamo.
I made an apron for my friend (ok, I had started this so only had to finish it off, so check one off the UFO list!).

I worked on my colour class homework. This month's class was about Triads. As shown in yesterday's post, my colour is turquoise, the other two colours in the triad are magenta and yellow. We were also supposed to use the complimentary colour (orange) as an accent.
I also took a picture of the previous class as I forgot to do that! Last month was about spaced colour harmonies. The colours used in that block was turquoise, spring green and red-violet.
I finished my Little House Needlework March ornament! Seriously, this is the sweetest little ornament, I can see myself stitching it again.

| Please ignore the stray off-white thread that jumped into the photo when I wasn't looking. |
I also worked on my BOM from 2010, A Journey of a Quilter (hosted by Valerie!). I currently have Lisa going through a bag of floss looking for DMC 838 to finish this block off....go Lisa go!
![]() | |
| (updated to advise Lisa was unable to find any DMC 838, now I have to remember to purchase some) |
I also drank some wine and went crazy on a package of croissants.
All in all, it was a great day!!!!
Have a wonderful Saturday, Vivian

Valerie has a new BOM!
I meant to mention this too, one of my favourite people that I've never met and hope to meet someday, Valerie at Pastimes Online is hosting yet another Block of the Month quilt. This one, is designed entirely by her!
I know, I know, I've got enough on my plate, but I just finished the top of my Truly Scrumptious BOM (also through Val) and hope to have it quilted soon. That means I have an opening in my sewing schedule, am I right?
Doesn't matter, I'm joining anyway LOL. Stop by Valerie's quilting blog to get a sneak peek and let her know you are interested. Did I mention it was an Easter quilt? Cuteness everywhere.

Bits and Pieces
I seem to be going in so many directions and I want to do everything!!!!
First, I haven't taken a picture of my Sue Spargo work yet as I think you really need to see it finished to appreciate it. However! Here is a quick shot of Sue giving some embroidery instructions.
Isn't she just lovely?
Speaking of lovely, I had the pleasure of having the most fun tablemate in our 3 day workshop. Ruth of Bear's Paw Quilts. She's such a card.

Remember my colour class? Well our last class was on triads so for next weekend (is it already next weekend? man, I leave my homework to the last minute). Here is the colours I'm working with:
Turquoise is my colour. Magenta and Yellow are the other two colours in the triad. For an accent, orange will be used sparingly. I'm going to have to take a photo of all my blocks together soon.
I'm really hoping to get a lot accomplished this weekend. I am spending 4 days (with one of my girls) at a friend's home. They went away and have animals so we are petsitting. I dragged all my current WIPS and some UFOs in both my stitching and my quilting. If this doesn't get things accomplished I don't know what will!
On my way over to their house I stopped at our mailbox and was so excited to see what was in there. My shipment from Janice at Traditional Stitches of the #2 and #3 ornaments in the Little House Needleworks 2012 ornament series. What UFOS? What WIPS? I spent my evening, between reading The Scarpetta Factor and eating Miss Vickie's chips (regular), working on the March ornament.
It is just heaven to stitch and I'm officially halfway finished! By the way, I decided to try these Bohin needles that everyone seems to be so excited about. Until now, I've only used John James or whatever needles I could find at Walmart. Since I was working on something special, I asked Janice to include the Bohin needles in my last order. She sent two sizes as I never know what size I really like to use, I know what it feels like but I can never remember the #. Somebody remember this important information for me, I'm stitching this using the #26 needle and I love it. There is no tugging, no sound (I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about), the needle is smooth and feels wonderful in my hand. They are also shorter then my usual needle and I like it. I'm sold, Bohin is my new favourite needle.
Ok, back to the grindstone, see you soon and have a wonderful Easter weekend.

Sue Spargo
I have homework to do but just wanted to pop in and update you...Sue Spargo is here!
We just finished the 2nd day of a 3 day workshop and I have a mess of applique to do tonight for our final day. I hate not having a finished project at the end of a workshop so you know I will be up late tonight doing all I can.
I have pictures later but I have to tell you, I now have a love of wool, wool thread, velvet and chenille. Oh my!!!
Wish you all could be here!
