Holy cow, Spring is coming!!!
A sure sign of which is my daughter riding a bike up and down the snowcovered lane without a jacket on. She does have her touque tucked up under the bike helmet though so it is a bit nippy in the breeze.
It was nice enough though for me to pull out the sewing machine, sew up a couple of things and then take them outside for photos!!!!
First is my Bee Balm quilt top. As I've talked about in past posts, I chose Kaffe Fassett fabric and the only instructions I gave were to have fun. I wanted something that wasn't exact, seams didn't have to match, it just had to be colourful and well loved. I received all my blocks back and today have pieced this together, and I think it fits exactly what I wanted.
Doesn't it just make your heart pitter patter? Well it does mine. Now to find the perfect backing fabric.
I also put the framing fabric (first of my borders) on my bag quilt. For this quilt I am wanting to make it look like my bags are on display, so I chose a fabric that reminds me of granite shelves to rest the bags on (fairy frost). My friend brought back for me, from a shop in Ontario, a beautiful fabric that gives me the painted wood look I really wanted. It's just oh so elegant. So, in keeping with the "wood frame" concept, I mitered my corners. Now for this quilt, the next step is to find a luscious "wallpaper" fabric to surround my bags. That should be fun!!
Well the day is not over, let's see what else I can do before Amazing Race starts.
Take care, Vivian
