Christmas 2012 begins

Early in the year (is the year already 15 days old?)....or it may have been late in last year....I decided I would work on Christmas all year long.

I have several quilts to finish working up so to keep things fresh in between I decided to stitch the 2012 Little House Needleworks ornament series.  The first one has been released, so I'm excitedly waiting for it to come to my mailbox.  Probably some time by the end of the month.

As I knew it would take some time for the first one to come out, I came to the conclusion that I couldn't wait and I ordered one of the previous ornaments, called Red House in Winter and it's from the 2010 series.

It arrived on Tuesday and I couldn't wait to start it.

Then once I started it, I couldn't put it down.  I spent several hours over the course of the last few days listening to my favourite shows on DVD while stitching and today I put in the final stitches!!

Oh it's just so pretty in person, I can't stop looking at it.  Now to pick out the perfect backing and ribbon to finish it off.

Our sewing day?  It was perfect.  It was freezing outside!  Inside we had snacks, and hot coffee, a roaring fire and Harry Potter in the background (keeping the girls occupied!).   My friends Shelly and Estelle and Renate (her place) were there, I just love spending time with them.  Each of them is special in their own way, each completely different and I am thankful they are a part of my life.

Estelle, Renate and I worked on an apron pattern, the only one to finish was Estelle, I swear she's a whiz and sews faster then anyone.  Us two didn't finish but we're close.  I think the apron is called a 4 corner apron, I'll have to check the pattern later.  Shelly worked on her beading (she's making moccasins).

There was much laughter and that peaceful, easy feeling you get when you are with people that get you.

Off I go now, Lisa made meatloaf and the potatoes are near ready for mashing.  Take care and stay warm!  (we're back down to -36 C)
