Shelly has posted our task #2 for her end of the year challenge.
Remember the piles from yesterday? Well, we are now to supposed to find a little something in there (or maybe another uncovered pile) and try to finish it off...or in my case as least work on it a bit LOL.
As much as I would love to whip the binding on the quilt in one of my piles I can't! I have to visit the fabric store and it's closed till tuesday. That quilt is Lisa's lapquilt for the car. Lisa likes to travel in comfort, she has a car pillow and finds she needs a lapquilt to snuggle under. She's a napper in the car. Here is what her quilt top looks like:
These blocks were completed by my Canadian quilting bee group. It's a simple floating star on a background of patchwork squares. She loves it. Instead of the usual cotton batting I like to use, Lisa said she wanted the poufy stuff. (un)Fortunately I had a roll of poly batting hidden in the corner that someone had donated to me about a year or so ago. The other day I quilted it. What a pain!!! Remind me and my children, I don't like working with poufy batting. Now the quilt waits in the corner until I can get a fabric for the binding. I don't have enough yardage of anything in my stash that I'm willing to use to finish this project.
Back to our task, I've uncovered 2 things so far.
1. One is a UK cross stitch magazine that I had put on my table to kit up for my stitching pleasure next year. I had started pulling threads and they were tucked nicely into the pages of the magazine. My goal? pull the rest of the threads, see what I need to purchase, see if I have a big enough piece of fabric, if not, place an order at 123 Stitch! to fully kit this piece. Regarding this cross stitch pattern, I have a goal to finish it before Christmas 2012 so be sure to check back on that!
2. The other is my Cinderberry Stitches BOM - Truly Scrumptious that Valerie a Pastimes Online hosted in 2011. I discovered I'm nearly finished the stitching on the 2nd last block. I can get this finished and hopefully start the last block soon and then I'll be ready to piece the top, then quilt it, then bind it, then hang it on my wall. Ok, now I'm overwhelmed. Today, I will finish the stitching on it. I won't even think of that last block yet.
I'm sure I have something that I can work on sewing wise too in my piles, I'll look later.
Have a great day!
ps: accomplishment on the laundry pile, it's now been folded up and divvied up to the appropriate people to put away. Whew!
