October Colour Class

It's a new month and time for our second class in Colour.

First, let me remind you about our first class, which took place in September, it was all about Monochromatic.  I chose turquoise as my colour and picked a series of fabrics in that colour, in shades and tints.   I then found a block that I thought would showcase all (or as many) of the fabrics as I could.  It's called Twinkling Star and here is my finished block:

Oh I just love it!  Who knew I would love the blue so much, so not my usual colour.

Today was our second class and it was all about Analogous colours.  Analagous colours lay beside each other on the colour wheel.  Beside turquoise heading towards the greens is first aqua blue.  As the fabrics I found in that colour were very close to my turquoise (the colour shift was very subtle), I chose to skip that one move on to the next colour, aqua green and then blue green.  Below are the two rows of fabrics I chose in each of those colours.

Next we head in the opposite direction of the colour wheel (towards the blues).  Beside turquoise is cerulean blue and then blue.

Our homework for November's class is to bring in one completed quilt block (my twinkling star) using these analogous fabrics AND ALSO a second completed quilt block using these fabrics and then throwing in a small piece of fabric from the opposite side of the colour wheel.  Just a dash, just a hint.  So I'm off to go through my scraps to see what I have in an orange.  I like orange, there should be some in my basket somewhere.

After spending all that time sorting through fabrics and determining where they sit on the colour wheel, my head is spinning and I'm beat.  Whew!  Who knew how tiring all this thinking would be.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Well done! The block is a stunner - all those points. I know I'm going to enjoy seeing your colour project come together. Sounds like a fantastic course.
